Casares

From
the coastal road N-340, kilometre 146 (between Sotogrande
and Estepona) you can drive in direction Casares.
After 14 km uphill-drive you will reach the hill-village.
It is a charming village with white houses and red
tiled roofes, which is situated at the foot of the
ruins of a castle. From here you have a stunning
view to the landscape.

"Blas
Infante" was born in Casares, the father of
the Andalusian movement. Julius Caesar founded the
village and it is told that because of him the complete
village was declared as a "historical monument
of art".
What
you should see is indeed the church of "Encarnación",
the salt-tower "Torre de la Sal" and the
archaeological areas of excavation. These are the
main constituents of the monument of art. And naturally
you should not miss to visit the castle.

Several
restaurants, cafés, and old situated ventas
invite you to stay, from which you also mostly have
a stunning view over the village.
Also
souvenir shops and other businesses you will find
on the road to Casares and in the town Casares itself.

|
|

The
village has several small places and on foot you
can enjoy the feeling of the nice constructed alleys
of the village with the white houses.
You find also accomodations in Casares during the
summer months.
